It is a great honour and privilege to be President of City of Armagh RFC for the 2016-2017 season. Many people will know that this will be my second spell as President,
having carried out the role back in 2003-04. Thirteen years have past since then and in this relatively short space of time, our club is remarkably different today.
Last season we had our first ever female President since 1875 and I congratulate Shirley Anne on such a fine job she did throughout the past year.
On the playing field, our First XV were playing Qualifying League 2 in 2003 and last season the team were playing at the highest standard in the Club’s history, finishing in fifth place in AIL 2B.
I hope most people will have read our excellent Season Review which is on our club website, where you will have seen how well our teams performed all year, through minis, youth, ladies and our adult teams. Pride of place of course must go to our Under 18s for their tremendous cup and league double success.
As we embark upon another season, I would like to offer best wishes to every player in the club and to our teams of coaches and managers and I hope a successful year lies ahead.
Our club depends entirely on its huge team of volunteers and I want to thank everyone who contributes to the running of the club through their role, small or large.
To our ladies especially, who look after our guests on a Saturday, a massive thank you for all your commitment and hard work.
Sponsorship is also the life-blood of our club and I want to thank every business that is helping our club financially in the season ahead. Whether it is by taking a sign around our pitch, sponsoring a pre-match lunch, or paying for kit etc, your valuable contributions are most appreciated.
Let us all enjoy the season ahead and make it a memorable one for City of Armagh RFC.
Yours in Rugby,
President - City of Armagh Rugby Club
