Match Report 22nd March 2026

After their debut at the Affidea Stadium last weekend in the Suzanne Fleming Cup, the City of Armagh Senior Women regrouped to play their last league game of the season at Thomas Mellon Playing Fields in Omagh on Sunday. Carrying a lighter squad than usual due to injuries, the team still went in with a positive mindset of giving it their all against the team they had beaten in the semi final of the Suzanne Fleming Cup at the Palace Grounds back in February.
Omagh were also out to show their strength and experience and got on the scoreboard early with 3 tries, 2 converted before Armagh struck back with a try by Tara Renaghan on 19 minutes. Tara was back again with a try on 24 minutes converted by Katierose Pickering but that saw the end of the scoring for the Armagh team who were hit with injuries and had to drop to 14 players for the last 15 minutes of the second half. Omagh took advantage of that and scored a series of tries to extend their lead. Thanks to Omagh for a great game and for their hospitality afterwards. Maxxpresso Player of the Match was presented to Amy Burke.
Notwithstanding this loss the team should be very proud of everything they have achieved this season, from winning the Championship B league in Phase 1, promotion to Championship A, and reaching the final of the Suzanne Fleming Cup. A huge thanks to the players, player sponsors, coaches, managers and supporters over the course of the season. We look forward now to a break before preparing for 2026/27.
