President’s Message 2025-2026
It is with a tremendous sense of personal pride and a sincere honour for my family, to be President of City of Armagh RFC for the 2025-2026 season. I am especially looking forward to the remainder of our wonderful clubs 150th anniversary celebrations and my hope is that these are matched by an enjoyable and successful season for all our men’s, women’s, juvenile teams, Mini sections, all their supporters as well as our valued non-playing members and loyal sponsors.
The programme of events delivered by volunteers and led by our dedicated 150th team of Evan Morton, Don McDowell, Karen Graham and Willie Boyd has enabled the showcasing of what makes City of Armagh RFC, so special.
Events to date have enabled, past and present members to express their deep pride in our club. This culminated in our memorable gala ball in the Armagh City Hotel. I also acknowledge the dedication and professionalism of all my predecessors especially immediate past President Tim Taylor, previous committees, former club officers as well as those dedicated volunteers and countless members stretching back a century and a half. My appreciation to all who strive to ensue City of Armagh continues to be recognised as one of the premier amateur rugby clubs in Ulster and Irish Rugby.
The future beckons, and visionary improvements to club facilities and player support continues at pace to support ongoing club development. Our fantastic club gym, club shop and innovative clothing range, allied to novel fund raising initiatives such as the 150 Gold Club led by Phil Hill, are invaluable off field initiatives helping to secure our club’s future – please continue to support these in coming seasons. I deeply appreciate all our volunteer efforts: their commitments combined with the continued generous financial support of all our sponsors remains the beating heart of City of Armagh RFC.
My best wishes to all our players /coaches and managers as they return to training and aim to remain as a leading club in the competitive AIL IB and competing in Ulster league and cup competitions at all levels. A big “Well Done” to our U18 squad and mentors who last season achieved the Ulster League and Bowman Cup double.
Please consider being a volunteer as so much more can be done especially in the use of social media to tell our story and communicate effectively with existing and potential members. Close relationships and partnership building with our sponsors, ABC Council, funding bodies and the whole community is essential to match the ambition of developing all our mini and youth talent to be the successful senior men and women players of the future.
I look forward to seeing you all at the sideline and in the clubhouse this season and vocally getting behind all our teams.
Yours in rugby,
Jim Crummie
President, City of Armagh RFC
