ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC

28 teams played in the 2024 Annual Golf Classic run by City of Armagh RFC. Played in ideal conditions at County Armagh Golf Club, the winning team was the McCall team featuring Carolyn, her sister Loraine, brother Graham and brother in law, Kyreachous. They had a wonderful 109 points on the day. In second place was Andrew Winder’s team with 103 points. Prominent in this team was Con Oliver, Andrew Brady and David O’Hagan. Individual winners were David Agnew, third with 40 points, Michael Anderson, second with 41 points and overall winner Johnny Abbott with 42 points. Lady runner up was Ellen Morton with Loraine Delkos winning with 32 points. Nearest the pin were Conor Raleigh and David McCartney, while Andrew Winder won the men’s longest drive and Carolyn on her return to golf, had a great drive at the 10th.

The rugby club was very much indebted to the golf club for the use of their excellent course and to the many sponsors on the day. Food was provided by an army of volunteers which included Ken Redpath, Johnny Atkinson, Margaret Redpath, Libby Atkinson, Margaret Clarke. A special collection was made for the Kevin Bell Trust in appreciation of their help in bringing Martin Murray’s remains home from holiday and £800 will be forwarded to the charity. This was collated by Margaret Sturgeon and Judith Conn. Drinks on the course were provided by Don McDowell and Gary Bell. It is impossible to thank everyone involved, but great credit should be given to the main organizer Noel Conn, assisted by Alan Johnston and Eric Clarke.
